Five Element Acupuncture

Five Element Acupuncture is a classical form of Chinese Medicine that began thousands of years ago.  It is not a religion or a belief system but a way of understanding energy and healing. Qi (pronounced Chee) is the life energy that moves throughout the body. Qi naturally flows evenly yet it can become blocked, stagnant, excessive or depleted leading to health challenges and disease. Five Element Acupuncture helps to restore the natural flow of Qi creating the opportunity for restored health and vitality.

Nature is all around us and the principles of nature are also within:

Within each of us are the Five Elements; Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, and Water.  The Five Elements are based on the creation and control cycles found in nature.  For example, Wood creates Fire, Fire creates Earth, Earth creates Metal, Metal creates Water and Water creates Wood.  Each element relates to specific organ systems and are tightly woven partners enabling efficient and effective functioning overall.

The element most related to you is your greatest and weakest strength. In balance, it can bring all elements into balance and when out of balance there is disharmony. If one or two elements are out of balance, the others attempt to compensate.  This instability may manifest itself through symptoms such as back pain, depression, weight gain or headaches, just to name a few.  The changes are often felt on the physical level first because this is the most superficial. A physical symptom is often a sign that there is something at a deeper level needing support.

More about Qi:

Qi (pronounced Chee) is the life energy that moves throughout your body and it supports your vital energy and physiological functioning of your body, such as:
• making your heart beat
• holding the blood in your veins and it moves the blood through your veins
• supporting and creates your energy level
• moving throughout your body (via the *meridians) sharing vital energy.

*The meridians are connected and move much like rivers and streams, sharing Qi. When a specific meridian is Qi deficient then the acupuncture treatment supports the sharing and transferring of Qi to the deficient meridian creating balance.
